NORTHEAST AMBASSADOR: MASSACHUSETTS
I grew up in northern Virginia where family vacations, summer camps, and general wanderlust drew me outdoors incessantly for camping, hiking, and exploring in the Blue Ridge Mountains and beyond. After moving throughout childhood from Virginia to South Carolina to upstate New York, I attended college in Boston and deemed myself a “city person” despite always gravitating to the parks and urban green spaces. A year after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, I found myself working at a magazine in the Berkshires region of Western Massachusetts. Intending for it to be a 1-year stop on my way to New York City, the lush landscape, rich cultural attractions, and wealth of outdoor adventure opportunities drew me in…and 10 years (and a career change) later, I’m elated to call the Berkshires home.
Full-time, I am an elementary special education teacher, having returned to school for my masters degree in special education after falling in love with the region. I am now also the president of the Berkshire chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association (NEMBA) and have been a Little Bellas mentor for the past two years. I absolutely love supporting the natural world around me and sharing opportunities for adventure with both children and adults. I discovered SheJumps shortly after arriving in the Berkshires and have been thrilled by the experiences it has allowed me to have, the friends I’ve made, and the inspirations it’s brought me to continue to try new things and explore the outdoor world I love. I am very excited to be able to expand that experience as a SheJumps Ambassador for Massachusetts and join such an amazing and fun group of women.
