For as long as I can remember my summers meant packing up the car, pilling in the family, and heading out west. Whether it was the Tetons, Rocky Mountain or Joshua Tree, the only thing that mattered was that we were all outside enjoying time together. Those summers out west helped to form a central part of my identity. I am very lucky to be able to have had the childhood that I did. Because of that, the outdoors is a place where I go to feel healthy, to explore, to feel confident, and most importantly to escape the pressures that society places on young women my age. These days, when I am outside I spend most of my time hiking and climbing, but I have never been one to refuse any outdoor activity.

My mission at SheJumps is to help provide an environment where women can not only share their outdoor experiences, but also to help create an atmosphere in which it is comfortable to learn and grow as women in the outdoors. Even at this current moment in time there are still so many mountains that lie in the path of a women’s life. My goal is not to remove them, but to learn to climb over them.
