NORTHEAST AMBASSADOR: WAPPINGERS FALLS, NEW YORK
I did not grow up exploring the great outdoors but naturally overtime I was overcome by the power of being in nature. Independently, I started exploring parts of the A.T. that ran through the Northern New Jersey town I grew up in and was completely drawn by the freedom the outdoors gave me. That feeling grew and I began to hike more and gain more hobbies like yoga, kayaking, and climbing – or anything that would get me outside. By the summer of 2016 I found myself in REI and by the time I left, I had all the gear for hiking in the backcountry. I jumped into the hiking lifestyle and quickly realized it was my therapy, my refuge, the place I could be anything I set my mind to. That is what pushed me leap into the SheJumps organization – I aspired to help girls and women harness that feeling. I look forward to making meaningful connections with all women who participate and help in anyway to get outside and have a blast while doing it.
