Snow wasn't in the forecast, only rain. So you can imagine how surprised I was on Sunday morning when I saw a foot of snow outside the hostel window. The warmest things I had brought to Romania was a rain jacket, a sweatshirt, and a tall pair of socks. But a little snow wasn't going to tarnish one of the most anticipated days of my life because I was going to Dracula's Castle in Bran, Romania. I threw on my Nike Shox with mesh toes and a pair of jeans. I borrowed a long sleeve shirt from Ellen and tied a scarf tightly around my neck. I was going to freeze, but I didn't care because the snow, freezing wind, and dangerous road conditions only added to the spooky sensation of visiting Transylvania, the legendary land of monsters.
Ellen and I had hired a Romanian man to drive us, as well as an LA fashion princess and two Aussies, to three must-see-sights in this part of the world. The snow was falling heavy and thick, making visibility in our ghetto ride nearly impossible. Also, there is no such thing as snow tires in Romania- so the whole drive through the Carpathian Mountains was somewhat nauseating.

Halloween in Transylvania
