Check in and be grateful

Comment on this Post Photobucket The other day, I felt beat down, defeated by work, and totally tired. I couldn't figure out why I wasn't excited about all the cool things coming up for me this spring, namely bobsled camp and a trip to Norway. I'm a lucky kid, but somehow I was feeling ho-hum and going through the motions. It killed me. So I asked myself to carve out some time within the next day to decompress and focus on my goals — get some quality me time in. I didn't know how I was going to do it or what would happen, I just manifested. Just my luck SheJumps president Claire Smallwood came along. Over dinner at my place, she mentioned that she had been invited the next day to do one of the classic ski tours in the Wasatch Range and asked me to join. That was exactly how I got over my defeatism. We hiked 4 hours in the most beautiful terrain on a perfect sunny spring day. The snow was creamy goodness as we arced turns down 3,000-some feet. If you're going through the motions, take some time to "check in" as Claire puts it. Check in with yourself, your dreams and the big picture. Don't get worked up in the minutiae. Take one day at a time. Who knows what you'll discover, but whatever it is, be grateful for that moment.
