SHEJUMPS BOARD MEMBER LAUREN WHALEY
Lauren's love letter lessons

Lauren Whaley has big, bright, beautiful blue eyes. It may look like she could easily beat Rocky Balboa in a staring contest, but don't let those piercing eyes fool you.
"Whales" is all smiles. She is the ultimate camp counselor. She sings Christmas songs all year long, guides kids on kayak trips, climbs mountains, and writes her friends "love letters" about how much she appreciates them. She has a huge heart; she cries at movies (even if they are lame) and likes to spend time with friends, whom she treats like family.
On Jan. 26, she held the inaugural "girl night" in Jackson Hole where she made dinner for her dear friends and gave them gifts - flowers that remind her of each of them. Emma, Erin, Vanessa, and Lynsey each placed their art around the Christmas tree (yes, still up and sprouting), and then every one exchanged art after dinner. The girls nearly cried when Lauren passed out the flowers and love letters, and Emma (single) yelled, "If only you had a penis, Lauren."
Lauren is courageous, too. She quit her thankless job at the town newspaper and jumped head first into freelance writing and filmmaking. One of the documentaries in the works is about her mission to learn how to ski. "Teewinot to Corbet's" is about how she plans to go from skiing green runs at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort to jumping into the double-black diamond run, Corbet's Couloir, by the end of the season.
She lives life the way she stares - intensely - but she smiles the whole way through.
