A LOT OF PEOPLE wonder what SheJumps is all about. The first response I usually get when I tell a woman that she is a “jumper” is: “Well, I ski sometimes but I don’t ever jump.”

While we cannot deny the English language that yes, jumping usually does mean getting both feet off the ground, the root of She “jumping” is quite simple: A group of women with self-confidence, motivation, and strength from being active are now working together to bring those same activities to women who question, “Is there more to my life?”

As with most projects, initial scope and brainstorming reveal a challenge not so formidable that you give up, but rather, you start planning. And so started SheJumps. In 2006, Lynsey Dyer and Vanessa Pierce realized that the active lifestyle they enjoyed with their girlfriends was incredible, but that the scope of that community felt small compared to its potential. But what Lynsey and Vanessa saw as the difference between their community and just starting an adventure race team is that everyone has a desire to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Thus started “jumping.” To find yourself in a place where you could do more, and challenging yourself to find the edge of whatever that is.

There are a few things we are particularly excited about with this new portal of information. We are very excited to have Evan Berry on board as she generously shares her herbal remedies and guide to natural living on the Natural Way blog. Speaking of natural ways for involvement, you can now request a SheJumps’ sanctioned event in your own area! Check it out under the JUMP IN tab.

Although times may be economically difficult, as a nonprofit we rely on selfless contributions from supporters to ensure our programs can become a reality. Please visit our Donate page and help women JUMP!

Every day we find ourselves faced with obstacles that make us scratch our head and say, “leave it to someone else,” or "maybe some other time." But not SheJumps! We are a group that extends beyond our mission statement and invite the participation of you to build our community. Please read our Challenge and report back!

Keep Jumping, Claire Smallwood, Executive Director
