Ullr Girl wrap: Winning the hard way

In the immortal words of Ricky Bobby, “If you ain't first, you're last.” I’ll be honest in saying it hurts not to have that check in my pocket for $25 grand, but maybe the Ullr Girl contest was about more than just winning. It’s been a year-long process to become an Ullr Girl: putting up a profile; asking all my friends to go out of their way to vote online; making it all the way to Whistler and being welcomed by the greatest Swedish family (thanks Sven and Amanda) who let us crash at their place for 10 days; sliding a rail for the first time in my life; going to the best apres ski ever with all of the Ullr Girls laughing and wrecking shit while Meg and Grete flung peppers into Sarah’s beer. Then there was skiing with an all-girl posse for the first time and loving every second of it. This contest had the spirit we could all be proud of. Sure we’re all competitive, but this contest said something about the bigger picture.
