About Ariane: There are these moments in your life where you find your true strength. Moments where you overcome your inhibitions and reservations and take a leap into something new. Moments where you are truly present in the now and these moments always occur at the end of your comfort zone. This is a place where I find I thrive.
A little over three years ago, I took a giant leap moved from West Virginia to the West Coast. And I have never felt more at home! My introduction? A week long outdoor orientation program through my college in which was spent learning how to rock climb with eight other freshman students. I wasn’t unfamiliar with the outdoors at that time, but that was the moment that really clicked for me. That trip initiated the development of such a strong and steady passion for the outdoors. I traded my tennis shoes in for hiking boots, bought my first rain jacket and discovered mountain life (#WANDERLUST!).
Over the past few years, I have developed such a deep sense of self through my outdoor endeavors and I wish that upon every person I meet. I started leading the very trip I attended my freshman year of college and it has been such a pleasure facilitating that experience for others. I’ve never learned so many life lessons or made such great friends as I have outside. The mountains are humbling and where I feel most at home and where I find people come together the best.
From rock climbing to mountain biking and backpacking and skiing, I’ve developed so many passions! My most recent venture involved moving into my car for the winter and working at Crystal Mountain Ski Resort so I could spend the season learning how to ski and now I am shredding! Through this venture, I have met a lot of people as passionate about being in the mountains as me. I heard of SheJumps and was immediately stoked. I had recently been looking for ski gear and found my options were very limited for what I was looking for and there were a lot more male options. I absolutely love sharing my passion for the outdoors and being a part of SheJumps and passing the stoke onto other fellow ladies and increasing women’s involvement in the outdoors is something I plan to be a part of for as long as I can!
