The 4th annual Get the Girls Out at The Nut was another great success with approximately 30 women and young ladies gathering to support SheJumps while having fun skiing and riding at Virginia’s Massanutten Resort. Ladies from as far west as Roanoke, as far east as Tappahannock and as far north as Baltimore, Maryland drove several hours to meet fellow Southeast jumpers for a beautiful bluebird day. This event, geared toward camaraderie and togetherness, was not only an enjoyable opportunity to get women out on the mountain, but also proved to be a successful fundraiser for the national non-profit.
The ladies started their day catching up with friends new and old while everyone checked in. The first 20 participants to arrive took home yummy goodies from our national partners at Treeline Coffee Roasters and Eco Lips. After everyone booted up, we gathered for a quick group shot before hitting the hill to make some long awaited turns.
Nothing but happiness could be seen all around as we took a few warm up runs before the crew split into smaller groups for the day of skiing and snowboarding.
As the clouds parted, everyone enjoyed the sun and the much-anticipated return to winter by being out in the cool, fresh air.
The sweet harmony of an all female outing made it even better!
The bright smiles of the younger girls were hard to miss as they lit up the hill with their Girafficorn spirit!
A mid-day pit stop at Mid-Mountain Grill was the perfect time to grab lunch, catch up as a group, and bond further as new friendships were formed.
One of the coolest sights this year was to see newcomer Cheryl bring her granddaughter out for their first event! SheJumps is fantastic at connecting ladies of all ages and abilities while getting women outside.
It’s always super fun to see ladies from all over the region smiling and laughing as they become acquainted with each other and share in the awesomeness of SheJumps!
After refueling during lunch it was back to the slopes for even more laughs and laps as we made several more runs together before calling it a day.
The conditions were great, especially considering the rollercoaster winter the Southeast Region has been having.
There was no shortage of smiles as the ladies made their way back to the bottom to the lodge for an après ski party and raffle at the Base Camp umbrella bar.
Several local business partners donated over $1000 worth of awesome items and gift cards for the raffle, including the grand prize of a $400 Helly Hansen down parka from our fabulous partners at Freestyle Ski and Board Shop!
Massanutten’s Base camp generously provided delicious appetizers and a fun venue for the ladies to enjoy the après ski party.
Everyone had a great time relaxing, catching up and planning our next adventures together!
The Get the Girls Out at the Nut event was a great way to spend the day in fabulous company while further spreading the word about SheJumps in the Southeast Region.
A huge thanks to all of our local business partners! We couldn’t have put this awesome event together with out them: Massanutten Resort, Freestyle Ski & Board Shop, The Sole Source, Peter Glenn Ski and Sports, Powder Shack, Jack Brown’s Beer and Burger Joint.
Thanks once again to all the ladies that joined us. It was yet another awesome day full of smiles and laughs! Your efforts generously helped raise over $600 to support the non-profit and future events, which is fantastic! Most importantly everyone had fun, loved learning more about the amazing organization and we all can’t wait till our next adventure soon!
