Get the Girls Out Mt. Bachelor, Winter ’14 Recap!

February 23rd, 2014

The day dawned clear and blue as ladies from all around the Northwest gathered at the bottom of the Pine Marten chairlift for a classic Mt. Bachelor summit day.

For the first time at Mt. Bachelor, SheJumps was able to offer a women’s ski clinic: a fun way for intermediate skiers to build their skills in a low-stress, all-female learning environment. Our instructor Elena Pressprich covered general skills like pole planting, body alignment, and carving techniques. We saw HUGE improvements throughout the clinic and everyone seemed really pleased with their progress!

While the clinic was going on, the rest of our group headed up to the summit chairlift to check out the snow conditions off the top. We traversed to Cow’s Face, a northeast facing slope that drops 1,700 vertical feet back to the bottom of the Summit chair. It was a little windy, but fun!

We also went on a little adventure to the backside, where we found some more interesting snow conditions. Giant wind formations and huge rime on the trees made for some legitimate route-finding inbounds! The group stuck together and quickly became a team. Awesome!

After lunch, we headed over to Northwest. One of the girls from the morning clinic showed off her skills on one of the steeper groomers on the mountain. Get it, girl!

It was a colorful crew for sure : )

The weather deteriorated throughout the day, and by the time the lifts stopped spinning, it was a full-on whiteout! Classic ski day in the Northwest!

Thanks so much to all of the girls who came out to make this a day to remember! You are a wild bunch and are too much fun!

xoxo
