At SheJumps, we’re unveiling a new nomination process to join the Board of Directors. In an effort to align with our values of being more inclusive and offer transparency with how we approach developing and selecting the leadership for the organization, we’re launching a new open call for nominations. We seek to have a board that represents the broad diversity of the communities we serve, and we encourage people of color, LGBTQ individuals, individuals with disabilities, and veterans to apply. Men (cis and trans) are also encouraged to join our board.
As a SheJumps Board Member, you volunteer to steward the future of our organization. You'll join nine current Board Members as part of a new Board cohort. Our hope is to grow to 15 members. You commit to attend annual meetings (8 hours/year+ 1-2 day summit), and actively participate in ad-hoc work, either as an officer, through committee meetings, providing virtual support, and by attending events. You’d serve a 3-year term, with the opportunity for an additional term.
SheJumps is looking for individuals who are excited to help build the future. As a member of our Board of Directors, you (or the person you’re nominating) are:
Motivated by the SheJumps vision to ignite and unearth human potential through outdoor play in reverence to nature
Believe that outdoor experiences inspire confidence, foster leadership, and create critical life skills
Excited to dive in by participating in strategic and innovation conversations to increase our impact
Willing to have brave conversations to build bridges, challenge the status quo, and make our organization better
Willfully commit your intellectual and financial resources to show up for SheJumps as we look to take our nonprofit to the next level
Acknowledge the historical inequities and institutionalized racism that has existed in the outdoors and personally/professionally commit to working as an ally to create safe outdoor spaces for all humans.
We are specifically looking for individuals with professional experience in the following areas:
JEDI work (Justice, equity, diversity, inclusion)
Public affairs
Fundraising & Grants (Foundation & Federal)
Governance/Management
Finance
Legal
Our intent is to review all of the candidates before our June 23 board meeting. We will be in touch with all nominees by that time with next steps. Nominees who qualify will be set up for an initial conversation with a SheJumps board member about the role, then finalists will meet with our Board President. New board members will be notified in July, and will officially join us in our July 21 board meeting.
