SheJumps GTGO at Stevens Pass – Recap

On January 23rd we had a super fun Get the Girls Out event at Stevens Pass Mountain Resort up in WA. The ladies sure got out! We were gifted with low temps and some snowflakes through out the day.

We started the day with some delicious snacks from Kate’s Bars and Krave jerky, all while making our own tutu creations.

At about 10 am, we broke into groups for various educational sessions (led by wonderful SheJumps volunteers) that included: skiing off piste, intro to backcountry skiing and into to park riding. The goal of these sessions is to create a safe and comfortable environment to learn new things, ask questions and meet other rad girls.  Ladies got to choose what session was most interesting for them.

The sessions were held twice, one set in the morning and one in the afternoon to allow attendance of more then one session if desired. After the morning session were over, we took over the Summit Room at Tie Creek Lodge for a quick lunch to refuel. The snow starting coming down harder and it was a great time to grab a quick snack, check out some raffle prizes and stock up on raffle tickets.

After lunch, Stevens pass Ski patrol hosted a beacon demo along with an avy dog presentation. This was an opportunity to learn or practice beacon skills – a very important skill to have and keep practicing if you are a frequent backcountry enthusiast.

We had a few little lady shredders who we chased around the mountain during the event – catching a high five moment between Anja and Kristen below. A big goal of GTGO events is  bringing various ages and abilities together to have a fun time on the mountain, and it was great to see the excitement of little girls getting the chance to lead the way.

At 4 pm we all gathered back in the lodge for the raffle. The turn out sure was great and the stoke was high.

BIG thanks to all of the volunteers who made this day possible. HUGE thanks to Stevens pass for hosting and to all of our sponsors for helping make this event a success.

We are looking forward to the Get the Girls out at Summit East this weekend and Get the Girls out at Crystal Mountain on March 5th. Please join us for all the fun!
