Why and How should SheJumps engage in
diversity, equity and inclusion practices?
Embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion is core to the evolution of the SheJumps mission as an organization to increase the participation of all women and girls in outdoor activities. If we are not being intentionally inclusive, then we are being exclusive. Embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion acknowledges three things:
There is institutional inequity to accessing the outdoors.
SheJumps is committed to doing the work that is required to become an organization that represents the diverse human landscape of the United States.
The future of outdoor recreation depends on our commitment to DEI efforts from an economic, social justice, and environmental justice standpoint.
We serve girls ages 6 and up, women 18 & older who either have never participated in outdoor activities or are active members of the outdoor community looking to give back and share their passion.
We welcome all women and girls (transgender and cisgender) as well as non-binary people who identify with the women’s community.
To be the leading resource of free and low-cost outdoor education for women and girls in the United States.
