About SheJumps Wild Skills

Who We Are

SheJumps Wild Skills youth events teach young girls the survival and technical skills they need for outdoor adventuring. Wild Skills programs include: Day Camps, Overnight Camps, and Family Adventures. Specialty programs include Junior Ski Patrol and Junior Wildland Firefighting.

These skills can be applied in any season or region and include first aid, navigation, leave no trace, 10 essentials, shelter building and more. Our events encourage girls to learn new skills, take on challenges, and think creatively which develops perseverance and fosters confidence.

Our goal is to see girls learning, having fun, and connecting in an encouraging environment with amazing instruction and support from female mentors. We want Wild Skills to be an experience they will remember, one that will spark a lifetime of passion for the outdoors and will remind them that they are capable of anything.

SheJumps' Wild Skills Day Camps are structured as half-day to full day camp experiences, parents/legal guardians drop girls off, they are split into teams based on their age and then rotate through different classes.

Wild Skills Junior Ski Patrol is a day camp where girls learn mountain safety and first aid while working with the strong women of the mountain community. Throughout the day, participants are taught a range of outdoor skills that are utilized by ski patrollers to keep the mountain safe. Topics include first aid, avalanche control, snow science, weather stations, toboggans, avalanche rescue techniques, avalanche dogs, and much more. There are also plenty of snack breaks, high fives, and unicorns delivering hot cocoa!

SheJumps' Wild Skills Overnight Camps are events where girls experience the Wild Skills curriculum through an outdoor activity such as climbing or backpacking for an extended period.  Our camps are led by experienced staff, professional guides and dedicated volunteers. Each camp focuses on a different outdoor activity and applies the SheJumps' Wild Skills curriculum throughout.

he mission of Wild Skills Junior Wildland Firefighter is to mentor young girls in fire safety and outdoor skills while working with the strong women of the firefighting community.

SheJumps' Wild Skills Adventures are open community events where parents/chaperones participate with the girls. Adventures can be hikes, fishing trips, ropes courses or anything else that sparks interest in the outdoors.

Micro Ventures are free nature-related activities for all ages and geographic locations–from the city to the mountains. Each activity is published on the SheJumps blog and includes a printable PDF with instructions.

SheJumps Wild Skills provides outdoor education across the country to girls ages 6-17.

SheJumps Wild Skills actively engages the community, recruiting class leaders that specialize in each area and rallying volunteer mentors to guide the teams of girls aiming for 1 to 3 mentorship.

Grants, fundraising and private donations allow us to keep these programs free to low cost for participants.

SheJumps Wild Skills was created and runs on volunteer efforts.

SheJumps Wild Skills programming focuses on highlighting skills and outdoor professions to the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts. Programs include day and overnight camps in various regions.
