ABOUT

How We Do What We Do

We serve girls ages 6 and up, women 18 & older who either have never participated in outdoor activities or are active members of the outdoor community looking to give back and share their passion.

SheJumps is an inclusive organization. We welcome all women and girls (transgender and cisgender) as well as non-binary people who identify with the women’s community. SheJumps strives to be an ally in the fight against racism and acknowledges that our events and programs take place on traditional, unceded Indigenous lands.

We do not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disabilities, age, status as a veteran, national origin or any other protected classes.

Our Mission

Outdoor play that transforms.

SheJumps increases the participation of women and girls in outdoor activities.

Partnering with nature, SheJumps creates educational outdoor experiences for girls and women that nurture growth and transformation.

Our Mission

Our Vision

We dream. We jump. We grow.

Our vision: To unearth the potential of all women and girls through outdoor play and connection to nature.

WHY

We exist to unearth potential through outdoor play with reverence to nature. We do that because we believe growth is in our nature, but fear of stereotypes, failure, rejection, labels - those spoken over us, what we have said to ourselves, and what we have believed - limit our growth.

HOW

The way we are going to do this is by inspiring people to jump beyond their limitations. Practically, we help women and girls take risks in the outdoors to enable them to breakthrough fears and internal/external barriers in life so they can grow to their full potential.

WHAT

Partnering with nature, we create safe, educational outdoor experiences for people that nurture growth, & transformation.

The Girafficorn

Half giraffe, half unicorn - all magic.

The Girafficorn exists to remind the child in all of us to play; outside. With feet on the ground and eyes focused where she wants to go, the Giraffcorn stands as a reminder to keep the spirit of play and possibility alive when taking the jump toward our greatest potential.

Our Commitment

SheJumps is committed to establishing specific goals and objectives related to justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion (JEDI) and expressing that commitment in all interactions across the organization.

All SheJumps’ board and staff members provide a signed, personal JEDI commitment in addition to our organizational JEDI commitment. All SheJumps programs will be evaluated based on the organizational JEDI policies and stated objectives as provided by the SheJumps Strategic Plan.

As an organization, we also provide ongoing diversity training and educational resources to all members of the organization, including an annual in-person team summit where DEI is a core focus. We strive to amplify the voices of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of color) and compensate those individuals for their work and emotional labor wherever possible.

Where It Started

SheJumps was founded in 2007 around the idea of,

"If she can do it, so can I."

Whether skiing or climbing, SheJumps wanted to celebrate the accomplishments of women from beginners to pro athletes and provide them with a support system where they would feel confident taking jumps (risks) and try something new.

In July 2007 we hosted our first event: 14 women climbed the Grand Teton (the largest group of women to that date). From that point, it has become a community for women in all walks of life with programming across the nation.
