Celebrating 10 Years of Volunteering: Brittany Wolcott

We are excited to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Brittany Wolcott as a member of our regional volunteer team. As SheJumps’ Northeast Regional Director, Brittany currently oversees volunteers in the Northeast region. Joining our organization in 2014, Brittany flourished in her Community Ambassador role, recruited by the late Tracy Hyde to join the team in Massachusetts. Her passion for the organization was obvious, and when Tracy stepped up to become SheJumps’ first partnership manager, Brittany evolved her role to become the Massachusetts Regional Coordinator and today serves as the Northeast Regional Director. Brittany currently oversees 9 volunteers, but cumulatively over her tenure has overseen 26 volunteers across 6 states. Her leadership and unwavering commitment have made a lasting impact on our organization.

From her earliest days with SheJumps, Brittany’s leadership has been marked by her openness and accessibility. Lindsay, a current volunteer, shared, “You are always willing to hop on the phone to discuss an issue or brainstorm... You have been so encouraging as I've tried out new events." Brittany’s supportive nature has created a nurturing environment for volunteers, which has a ripple effect of helping these volunteers grow as leaders in their local communities, encouraging them to embody the SheJumps’ mission through events and programs.

Kristina Zampella, who has worked closely with Brittany for over 7 years, describes her as “the thread that binds our Northeast team together, always ready to lend a helping hand or just have a cheery phone call.” It’s clear that Brittany’s influence goes beyond her formal titles—she has become a friend and mentor to many, someone who creates lasting connections and makes everyone feel valued.

Brittany’s work has left an indelible mark on the Northeast region, guiding the team through significant moments of change and growth. Alison McGee, who Brittany recruited to be the Massachusetts Community Ambassador, recalls how Brittany’s “sensible, accommodating, yet organized approach” helped navigate team changes, the challenges of the pandemic, and beyond. Alison’s story is one of many that highlight Brittany’s dedication to keeping the “Girafficorn spirit” alive—a spirit that embraces adventure, resilience, and connection to nature.

“When I think about where we were 10 years ago, it speaks volumes to consider how Brittany’s steadfast energy and leadership in the Northeast has allowed us to grow our community coast to coast.” —Claire Smallwood, SheJumps Executive Director

Brittany’s contributions have been instrumental in shaping the SheJumps community into what it is today. We are endlessly grateful to Brittany for her tireless work, compassionate leadership, and ability to unite people in pursuit of a shared love for the outdoors. As Jen Engers beautifully put it, “It’s not the length of time that should be celebrated; it’s just simply you.” Brittany’s journey with SheJumps isn’t just about the years she’s given—it’s about the warmth, energy, and passion she brings to every interaction, every event, and every participant she welcomes into our community.

Congratulations on 10 wonderful years, Brittany! Your commitment to SheJumps has been an inspiration to us all, and we can't wait to see the continued impact you’ll have in the years to come. Here's to you—and to many more years of making magic happen in the outdoors!
