International Women’s Day, held annually on March 8, invites us to reflect on progress, connection, and what it takes to create meaningful change. In 2026, the theme Give to Gain reminds us that when women support women, confidence grows, barriers shrink, and leadership expands, on the trail, in the workplace, and beyond.

That belief is at the heart of Get the Girls Out! (GTGO!), SheJumps’ annual campaign to bring women and girls together through outdoor play, connection, and community is held each year near International Women’s Day.

Now in its 14th year, Get the Girls Out! events unite women across the country to support, mentor, and inspire one another outside. These volunteer-led events welcome participants of all ages and abilities, whether it’s skiing, snowboarding, hiking, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, or simply gathering together in nature.

In 2025, more than 800 participants and volunteers came together at 12 Get The Girls Out! events nationwide, and the impact was clear:

95% felt a sense of belonging
90% felt more connected to a community of women

That connection matters. Research consistently shows that women face participation gaps in outdoor recreation due to cost, access, representation, and confidence. When we create intentional spaces to gather, those barriers begin to shift.

Get the Girls Out! is one way SheJumps puts that belief into action locally and nationally.

How to Join Get the Girls Out! 2026

Each official Get the Girls Out! event has its own Eventbrite page with details on location, itinerary, and any special instructions. Space may be limited, so be sure to register in advance. Check back if you don’t see an event near you - we are still getting some fun activations together!

Step 2: Get Ready to Play

GTGO! is about community, joy, and making the outdoors feel welcoming. Here’s how to prepare:

✅ Invite your friends — outdoor days are better together

✅ Dress for the weather — layers are your best friend

✅ Sign your waiver ahead of time to speed up check-in

✅ Wear something fun — bright colors and festive outfits encouraged (while being mindful and respectful)

✅ Check your event page for any gear recommendations or local details

Step 3: Maximize the Fun Factor

This day is about play, connection, and trying something new!

✨ Make a new friend — come solo or with a crew, and say hi to someone new

📸 Capture the moment — take photos, soak it in, and tag @SheJumps or use #GTGO!

🎿 Try something different — join a group session, explore a new trail, or challenge yourself in a way that feels good.

There’s no “right” way to GTGO. Just show up as you are!
