At the core of every new skill learned, every barrier overcome, and every connection made in the outdoors, there is a community showing up to make it possible.
For SheJumps, that community is powered by volunteers.
Across 18 states, more than 100 volunteers dedicate their time, energy, and expertise to creating opportunities for women and girls to step outside, try something new, and discover what they’re capable of. From first turns on snow to navigating complex terrain, from local meetups to large-scale programs, these moments don’t happen without the people behind the scenes making them real.
Our volunteers are organizers, instructors, mentors, and advocates. They are the early risers setting up trailheads and the last ones to leave after an event wraps. They are the friendly faces welcoming participants into a space that can often feel intimidating at first, and the steady encouragement that keeps them coming back.
"[Volunteering] helps me feel more connected to my community by introducing me to new people, organizations, and places. I’ve had the chance to explore areas I might not have found on my own and learn about other groups doing great work locally. It’s a fun way to build relationships and feel more involved in the outdoor community." - 2026 SheJumps Volunteer
The Impact of Showing Up
Volunteering with SheJumps is about more than supporting events; it’s about helping create access.
For many women and girls, stepping into the outdoors comes with real barriers: lack of representation, limited access to mentorship, or simply not knowing where to begin. Our volunteers help bridge that gap by creating environments where participants feel supported, capable, and connected.
That impact ripples outward. A single day outside can shift someone’s sense of what’s possible. A supportive community can change whether they choose to come back.
And it all starts with someone choosing to show up.
"Communities like SheJumps feel especially important right now because they offer a space where you can just be yourself and take a break from everything else going on in the world. It’s a chance to set the hard stuff aside for a while, get outside, and connect with others in a positive, supportive environment." - 2026 SheJumps Volunteer
Honoring 5+ Years of Dedication
This year, we’re especially excited to celebrate a remarkable milestone within our volunteer community.
25 of our volunteers have reached five years of service with SheJumps, and many have been part of this community for even longer!
Five years of leading events. Five years of building relationships. Five years of creating space for others to grow.
This kind of long-term commitment shapes the heart of SheJumps. It reflects a deep belief in the importance of this work and the community we’re building together.
To those who have been with us for five, ten, or more years: your dedication has left a lasting mark on this organization and on every participant you’ve supported along the way
"I’m most proud of sticking with SheJumps through different seasons of my life. There have been times when it’s been easier to be involved and times when it’s been harder, but I’ve kept coming back."- 2026 SheJumps Volunteer
