SheJumps is looking for new board members who are excited to roll up their sleeves and help grow a powerful community of women and girls in the outdoors. Our board is made up of passionate leaders who believe in the power of outdoor adventure to nurture growth and transformation. These leaders actively contribute their time, skills, and ideas to help SheJumps thrive. Like much of SheJumps, our board is powered by volunteers who care deeply about creating opportunities for women and girls to experience the outdoors.
If you believe in the transformative power of getting girls outside and are eager to jump in and help move the mission forward, we’d love to hear from you.
Board Service at a Glance
Time commitment
The board meets six times per year, primarily virtually, plus one in-person meeting. Board members also participate in committees and projects throughout the year.
What board members do
Board members help strengthen SheJumps’s programs and community by contributing their skills, networks, and ideas. This can include supporting fundraising, building partnerships, participating in committees, and helping expand the organization’s reach.
Who we’re looking for
People who are passionate about SheJumps’s mission and excited to actively contribute. We welcome candidates with a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and outdoor interests.
Participate in Committees
Committees are an important way for board members and other volunteers to help move SheJumps’s work forward. Board members must serve on at least one committee, contributing their expertise to areas such as finance, governance, and fundraising. SheJumps also convenes ad hoc committees focused on strategic initiatives such as program development, strategic planning, and compensation.
If you’re interested in contributing your skills but are not applying for a board seat, you are also welcome to express interest in committee service. Many volunteers support SheJumps through committee work, helping shape the organization’s programs and future direction.
The Role of the Board
The Board of Directors helps guide SheJumps’s long-term direction and supports the organization’s growth. Board members work closely with staff and volunteers to strengthen programs, expand partnerships, and ensure the organization remains strong and sustainable.
At SheJumps, board service is active and collaborative. Board members contribute their ideas, skills, and networks to help the organization grow its impact and reach more women and girls across the country.
What We Look for in Board Members
We’re looking for people who are excited to jump in and actively contribute to the success of SheJumps. Our board members don’t just attend meetings; they help make things happen.Â
Great board members at SheJumps are:
Doers. They jump in to help with projects, partnerships, events, and fundraising.
Advocates. They share the SheJumps mission with their networks and help grow the community.
Collaborators. They enjoy working with staff, volunteers, and fellow board members.
Passionate about the outdoors. Whether you ski, climb, paddle, bike, hike, or explore in your own way, you believe in the power of outdoor experiences for women and girls.
Our board works alongside SheJumps’s staff and volunteers to strengthen programs, expand opportunities, and support the continued growth of the organization.
We welcome candidates with a wide range of professional backgrounds and lived experiences. Skills that are especially helpful include fundraising, partnerships, nonprofit leadership, finance, marketing, community organizing, and outdoor industry experience. But enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to contribute are just as important.
How Board Members Contribute
Board members support SheJumps in many ways, including:
Helping develop partnerships and fundraising opportunities
Supporting strategic initiatives and program development
Serving on committees such as fundraising, governance, or DEI
Connecting SheJumps to new communities and outdoor networks
Participating in events and engaging with volunteers
Like most nonprofit boards, SheJumps board members play an important role in supporting the organization’s fundraising efforts. This can take many forms, making a personally meaningful financial contribution, helping introduce SheJumps to potential supporters, participating in fundraising initiatives, or opening doors to new partnerships. Board members are not expected to do this alone, but to work collaboratively with staff and fellow board members to help grow the resources that power SheJumps’ programs.
The board meets six times per year, primarily virtually, plus one in-person meeting. Board members also participate in committees and projects throughout the year.
Become a Board Member
SheJumps is entering an exciting phase of growth and evolution. As we strengthen our programs, deepen community impact, and strengthen our long-term sustainability, board members have the opportunity to play a meaningful role in shaping the future of the organization. This is a chance to help guide strategy, build partnerships, and support a mission that is transforming the outdoor experience for women and girls across the country.
SheJumps is committed to building a board that reflects the diverse community we serve. We welcome candidates from a wide range of backgrounds, identities, outdoor interests, and professional experiences. If you believe in the SheJumps mission and are excited to contribute your time, ideas, and energy to help grow this community, we encourage you to apply.
