Between gear sales and swaps, upcoming ski/board tuning clinics, and friends who have been waxing/fixing/upgrading gear since July, it’s clear that everyone is hungry for winter. But while it’s easy (not to mention super duper fun) to focus on the goods needed to get onto the mountain, it’s just as important to make sure we’re mentally equipped to handle whatever comes our way this season.
The Utah Avalanche Center will be hosting this year’s Utah Snow and Avalanche Workshop (USAW) on Saturday, November 5th from 8am-5pm at the Southtowne Expo Center. This pro-level workshop is geared toward professionals in the ski and outdoor industry, folks who love skiing and riding in complex conditions, and anyone who takes avalanche safety seriously. Learn from experts in areas ranging from snow science to backcountry trauma to lessons learned from recent accidents, and break up the day with reps showing off the newest in avy and ski/snowboard gear.
RSVP on Facebook and buy your tickets to reserve your spot for this season’s foremost avalanche education event. Purchase tickets by 5pm on November 2nd for $5 off the full price. Not able to make the full workshop? Half day tickets are also available for purchase, and additional evening avalanche awareness courses are available throughout the month of November.
We’re incredibly grateful to the Utah Avalanche Center for putting on this amazing workshop and helping us to stay safe in the backcountry throughout the season.
