Come join WMRT for a FREE night of avalanche education, giveaways, and fun. Brush up your backcountry skills or get introduced to the sport just in time for ski season!
Guest speakers include Dale Atkins with the American Avalanche Association, Zach Guy with the Crested Butte Avalanche Center, and Ian Havlick and Steve Banks with Irwin Guides. There will be presentations for all skill levels!
November 17, 2016, WMRT will be holding their 16th Annual Western Avalanche Awareness Seminar. The primary goal of this event is to provide a free and accessible seminar to educate the communities of Gunnison, Western State Colorado University and Crested Butte, Colorado on winter backcountry safety and self-rescue in addition to raising money for the Western Mountain Rescue Team- a non-profit search and rescue organization.
Over $5000 of gear and prizes have been donated to be given away, including skis and skins from Dynafit, snowboards from Never Summer Industries and Smokin Snowboards, and stays at the Tomichi Lodge: Colorado’s Mountain Adventure Base-Camp, Hinsdale Haute Route, and 10th Mountain Division Hut Association!
