On December 14th 2013 K2 Skis asked for women everywhere to get out on the mountain! It didn’t matter what brand you were on, if you skied or snowboarded, or what your ability level was…just that you got out there with women to celebrate. In Utah, SheJumps worked with local resorts, K2 Skis, RAMP Sports, Rocky Mountain Underground, and Soul Poles to put on multiple International Women’s Ski Day (IWSD) events. They resulted in almost 200 ladies shredding the Wasatch together on one day!
At Snowbird Resort ladies kidnapped Olympian Lindsey Jacobellis from the filming of a yogurt commercial at the top of the mountain to jump for joy for females everywhere!
At Solitude Mountain Resort, over 100 women attended IWSD! After “girl bombing” Sunshine Bowl, ladies got fresh tracks in the newly opened Honeycomb Canyon. After a long day on the mountain they kicked back in the parking lot for apres and a raffle from the Outdoor Women’s Alliance!
If you happened to be at Alta on the 14th and saw tutus and hula-hoops, well those were the ladies celebrating IWSD! Women at Alta Ski Resort shredded the mountain until close and then attended an awesome apres celebration at the Peruvian Lodge. One attendant said, “This was my best day skiing…ever!”
From everyone here in Utah I would like to say thank you K2 Skis for thinking of such a wonderful idea, thank you to all the wonderful organizations and resorts that made this possible, and of course a big thank you to each and every woman who participated. Now it’s time to start planning next year’s International Women’s Ski Day so it can be even bigger and better!!
