SheJumps.org and Central Oregon Avalanche Association are excited to offer an avalanche awareness evening for women, taught by Mt Bachelor ski patroller Betsy Norsen! See the destructive power of avalanches, how people get in trouble, and the basics of how to avoid them, all through the eyes of avalanche professionals, pro athletes, accident victims and rescuers, and their peers.
This event is not just for backcountry skiers! If you love to recreate in the snow in any form, this is a great way to gain a basic understanding of avalanche terrain: what it looks like, and how to avoid it.
In line with COAA’s mission of increasing the public’s understanding of safe winter backcountry travel, the female-focused Know Before You Go program presented by SheJumps will encourage more women to learn the fundamentals of avalanche safety, as well as empower them to become knowledgeable and enthusiastic backcountry travel partners.
Wednesday, December 3rd at 7 PM at the Cascade Lakes Lodge: 1441 SW Chandler Ave, Suite 100, in Bend, OR
