Casting & Cocktails a Blast Despite Rain

The ladies of the Tetons did not let rain stop them from having fun at our recent Casting & Cocktails event in Jackson, Wyoming! Indeed, despite pouring rain and lightning, the event was a great success, largely due to our amazing event partner and SheJumps supporter Jack Dennis High Country Outfitters, who were quick on their toes and squeezed us all into their downtown location for demonstrations in knots and an incredible overview of local entomology.

Participants were given the materials to practice knots themselves and had the opportunity for one-on-one instruction and feedback. And JDHC’s Maggie Heumann—who holds a degree in entomology—gave a thorough and intriguing overview of the bugs to be found on the rivers of the Tetons and had an abundance of samples for ladies to look at. Who would have guessed a group of women would be so fascinated by bugs!?! We also had plenty of snacks and cocktails for socializing and meeting other ladies of the community.

So, though we did not get a chance to practice our casting skills, ladies were still given the opportunity to learn valuable aspects of fly fishing and ask questions of the experts in the field! We want to thank all participants for the support, JDHC for acting as gracious hosts, Kate’s Real Food for joining us and donating delicious bars to participants and Gather for providing a discount card to ladies who joined us. We hope you all had as much fun as we did—see you on the river!
