It’s Wiiindayy

Quotes from Lynsey’s “Sh*t Skier Girls Say” video were abundant during our all-female ski day at Big Sky Resort.

The girls made their presence known at Big Sky on January 3rd for Big Sky Lady Shred!  Twenty-one women hit the slopes, in tutus and smiles, for a day of skiing and filming.  While the winds, clocked at 86 mph, were able to keep us off the upper mountain (and at times stop us from going downhill!) they weren’t able to keep us from having an amazingly fun day!!  I think we can all agree, Big Sky Resort was the perfect setting for our girls’ day out…where we raised over $400 for SheJumps!

The day started in the Big Sky Mountain Mall where we all gathered for registration, coffee & hot chocolate provided by Big Sky Resort, and breakfast provided by the Alpine Motel.

My mom and I made about a million tutus that we provided to the ladies during registration.

The first batch of tutus!

Participants also picked up goody bags from the Alpine Motel, organic lip balm and stickers from Grizzly Outfitters, a coupon for a free infrared wax from Grizzly’s rental and repair shop, a coupon for a free session at MT Holistic Living, a coupon for a 15% discount to Big Sky’s women’s clinic, and Kate’s Real Food bars.

We have the best partners!

Alaina Stinson of Big Sky Shirt Co. generously donated custom made shirts for all participants!  Along with co-owner, Josh Tozier, she created some really cool shirts for us to take home.  And she came out to ride with us for the day!!

We also made sure to send some positive thoughts in the direction of our event poster girl, Dani Menter.  Unfortunately, she was in a very serious ski accident a couple weeks before the event and was healing up in Seattle, where she had been airlifted after the accident.  We made sure she was represented and with us in spirit throughout the day!

Positive thoughts being sent Dani's way.

We headed out to the slopes at around 10 AM and while it was windy, it was also snowing.  The high winds kept most people off the mountain, so the conditions were great and we had a lot of space to play!  We made a trip to Andesite Mountain before the wind literally stopped us in our tracks – but we did successfully create a flying-V while over there!  We hit up just about everything off of Swifty, including a few laps on Rice Bowl where our cameraman, Chris Kamman, was able to get both some powder and pole whacking shots of the group.  Lucky for us, the wind died down and we were able to hit up the bowl for our last run of the day.

The event ended with a happy hour at Whiskey Jack’s where specialty pink drinks were served to match our girafficorn hats.

Drinks at the end of the day.

We also raffled off some really great prizes.  Big Sky Resort donated three ski and stay packages and Grizzly Outfitters donated a pair of Smith goggles and POC helmet.  Thank you, thank you, thank you to both of our generous partners.

Prizes from Grizzly Outfitters.

A huge thank you goes to Brian Watson, Eric Watson, and Brent Watson for helping with the setup and clean-up during the day.  And another huge thanks to Patty Watson, Melinda Turner, Maggie Hanley, Lyndsey Owens, Sheila Chapman, Anna Husted, and Alaina Stinson for making the day run so smoothly.  We had so many amazing people involved and I hope to see each and every one of you gals again – either in Big Sky or somewhere else!

We’ll share the event video once it’s complete – Chris Kamman is a truly gifted videographer & video editor and I can’t wait to see what he creates for us!!

I’m really looking forward to doing this again next winter!
