Meet Our SheJumps Interns!

We’re thrilled to have 4 summer interns on the team. They each bring a unique view and set of skills to SheJumps, but share a love for the outdoors, community building, and a desire to further our mission of increasing female participation in outdoor activities.

Carley Hawkins

Carley is currently a student at the University of Utah majoring in Parks, Recreation and Tourism with an emphasis in community recreation. She transferred to the University of Utah after getting her associates from Utah Valley University. She chose this because she thinks “recreation is the perfect way to stay healthy because recreation gives people the chance to stay in shape by doing something they love.”

Carley got involved with SheJumps after doing some research on nonprofit organizations that align with her community recreation interests. Since SheJumps provides women with outdoor experience and a sense of community, we all feel it’s a great fit…and we’re really glad she found us!

Eliza Cowie

This summer, Eliza is living in Center Harbor, NH with her parents and corgi puppy, Maisy! She attends St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY where she studies Global Studies and Business…and can also be found hiking, climbing, and skiing in the nearby Adirondack Park. For the past two years, she’s been a member of the St. Lawrence varsity Alpine Ski Team where she’s had the chance to meet and compete against some incredibly strong female athletes.

Eliza first heard about SheJumps while skiing with a friend during preseason camp at Vail. Her friend was wearing “an awesome Skida neckie with the girafficorn symbol” and when Eliza commented on how much she liked it, her friend began to tell her about SheJumps and Pretty Faces. She looked us up and the rest is history!

Gina Paletta

Born in Wales, UK to Welsh / Italian parents, Gina’s love for the outdoors started at a young age, while spending long summers in the water on the North Wales coast and running the surrounding mountains. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Sports Development and an MSc in Management Communications. Her main passions are mountain, trail, and long distance running. This brought her half-way across the world to the Pacific Northwest in 2011, a part of the world she fell in love with, not only for the forests, mountains and pacific coastline, but the coffee too! Outdoor sports have not only allowed her to travel, but also to push herself and believe in her abilities. After being diagnosed with scoliosis and two stress fractures to the spine, she went on to represent her country at World, European and Commonwealth Mountain Running Championships. “Continuing to running wild and live life serendipitously.”

Yuki McQueeney

Yuki McQueeney joins us from Exeter, New Hampshire, where this fall, she’ll be starting her final year at St. Lawrence University. She’s majoring in Economics and Business, but she still finds time to get outside. On top of perusing her degree, she’s spent the last three years as the coxswain for the Women’s Varsity crew team!

When Yuki came across SheJumps on St. Lawrence University’s online portal, she decided to jump in with a summer internship. She says she was inspired by the mission statement and is “excited to be involved in an organization that inspires and promotes positive and healthy activities.” Well said Yuki!
