Welcome to the Board of Directors: Angela Kim. We’re excited to have you and learn more about you.
I'm currently a consultant at Slalom Consulting, which is a global business and tech implementation firm headquartered in Seattle, Washington. I have over 8 years of finance experience, working for various global investment management firms advising individuals, families, businesses, and non-profits. I'm passionate about working with data to drive smarter business decisions and helping my clients solve their most difficult problems through innovative approaches. In my current work, I have successfully managed cross functional teams and has transformed processes and tools, providing measurable efficiencies. I have an Economics degree from the University of Washington and is a CFA Charterholder.
I'm constantly seeking new challenges and will likely say yes to try a new activity. My favorite activities include running, backpacking, surfing, and skiing. I have met many of my closest friends through one or many of these activities and values the supportive community I have built in the outdoors.
Q: Place of work, title, location.
A: Slalom Consulting, Financial Solutions and Analysis Consultant, I work remotely, but our office is located in downtown Seattle.
Q: Why did you join SheJumps as a board member?
A: I was first introduced to SheJumps at a Get the Girls Out event in 2015 and my bright orange Girraficorn sticker has been on my ski helmet since then. The goal of getting women and girls outside is so simple, yet powerful and I’ve always wanted to play a role in their mission. It was an easy decision when I was presented with the opportunity to serve on the board.
Q: What goal of the SheJumps 5 year Strategic Plan is the most important to you?
A: “Expand accessibility and inclusivity of SJ programs, offerings, and community for girls and women of all backgrounds.”
Q: What do you hope to contribute to the SheJumps Board of Directors?
A: As an Asian American woman with a passion for empowering women and providing opportunities to youth, I hope to ensure that She Jumps stays true to their mission of being an inclusive organization. I also have over 8 years of experience working in Finance and hope to use my industry knowledge to contribute to the long term growth of SheJumps.
Q: What is your vision for SheJumps?
A: A community that allows all women and girls to share their passion for the outdoors, keeping inclusivity and a growth mindset as some of its core principles.
Now, it’s time for the lightning round:
Q: Outdoor activity of choice (pick one, two if you must)?
A: running and backpacking!
Q: Who inspires you to go outside and why?
A: My friends! They challenge me to try new activities that I otherwise wouldn’t do on my own.
Q: Where is your favorite place to go outside or on an adventure?
A: Anywhere in the PNW! We have the mountains, lakes, and the Puget Sound!
Q: How has the outdoors benefited your health and overall physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing?
A: Being outdoors challenges my mental and physical strength, which is why I feel so accomplished and rejuvenated after a fun weekend in the outdoors. It also makes me appreciate the land that we live on and all the great friends I get to enjoy it with. Connect with Angela on LinkedIn and Instagram.
