Megunticook Summit (out and back) Distance: 5.2 miles round-trip Difficulty: Moderate (although there are a few steep sections) Duration: 4-5 hours Cost: FREE! Just register for the hike here. Event Contact: Gwynne Gallagher, gwynnegallagher@gmail.com

Come prepared for a brisk fall walk. Wear close-toed hiking shoes or boots, warm socks, leggings or hiking pants, and a long-sleeve shirt. Try to avoid cotton as it keeps you cold and wet instead of warm and dry. Bring a fleece, a windbreaker, a warm hat, and gloves – we will be hiking on an exposed ridge and it will likely be chilly up there. Come prepared with a raincoat (this can double as your windbreaker) – we hope you won’t need it, but there’s always the chance that it will rain or drizzle. Also, pack a lunch, snacks and at least 2 liters of water.
