Whether you’re going on a short day hike, your first backpacking trip, or a big mountain ski adventure, you have a plan. Based on your experience level, those plans, spreadsheets, to-do lists, or last-minute packing varies.

As SheJumps celebrates 18 years, we’re proud of how far we have come – but we’re gearing up for a far jump into the future as we unveil our three-year strategic plan.

Shaped by the voices of our community, staff, board, and partners, these goals reflect our dedication to expanding opportunities for women and girls in the outdoors—and to fostering the growth, confidence, and connections that happen when we adventure together.

We’re focusing our efforts in areas where SheJumps can deliver the most impact—expanding participation, deepening community connections, and ensuring programs are accessible to all.

With that, we are proud to share our Strategic Plan for 2025-2028; a clear, intentional roadmap to meet this moment and shape the future our communities deserve.

Goal 1: Refine program structure to unlock participants’ personal growth

We’re creating a consistent framework for all SheJumps programs—designed to build confidence, skills, and community—so every participant has the opportunity to grow and thrive. With consistent goals and infrastructure for all events, SheJumps has the ability to define benchmarks, data points, and analysis so that programs can continue to scale for growth.

We’re also excited to continue our annual survey and more ongoing participant evaluations to our catalog of resources. Investing in quantitative and qualitative data will help us make data-driven decisions to provide participants with the best experience.

Our regions will prioritize offering free, low-cost, or low-skill programming each year, not eliminating advanced opportunities, but creating the greatest number of events to invite new SheJumpers in.

Goal 2: Grow & strengthen engagement with women and girls in key geographies

We’re focusing our efforts in areas where SheJumps can deliver the most impact—expanding participation, deepening community connections, and ensuring programs are accessible to all.

A balanced programming model will create community-building, accessibility, age-based progression, and higher-skill level events. SheJumps will also evaluate the geographic areas with the highest opportunity for impact, using volunteer engagement and retention and local partnerships as key determinators. Once those areas are prioritized, programming, including scholarships and youth outreach, will be established.

Goal 3: Elevate volunteers as community stewards & leaders

We’re strengthening our volunteer program to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of SheJumps events while providing meaningful opportunities for volunteers to grow, lead, and inspire others.

As it’s been evident year after year in our annual report, while our staff leads national programs, our volunteers create and plan their own regional events to suit the needs of their individual communities. We want to increase our support of our volunteer network by delivering leadership curriculum, establishing touch-points for volunteers, and identify avenues to further build and deepen our DEI training, an enhancement that our volunteers are excited about. Our volunteers are committed to making sure everyone feels a sense of belonging at our events, and we will work to give them the tools to understand community dynamics and how to show up to best serve.

Goal 4: Strengthen organizational sustainability

We’re building a resilient foundation for SheJumps through a forward-looking budget, diverse revenue streams, streamlined program design, and a staffing structure that supports our mission for the long term.

Hitting the $1 million mark in the last two years has been incredible. We’re not stopping there. We will continue to strengthen revenue stream diversity to minimize seasonality impact including grants, individual donors, corporate donors, and program revenue. We will be looking at the modalities that we work off of for fundraising and optimize them so the growth of SheJumps can continue. We’re excited to explore new ways of tracking our goals and the investment it takes to get there.

This plan is not just about what we aim to achieve—it is also about the how: with discipline, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to equity and resilience. You’re invited to read the full plan on our website.

Similar to the experience of our participants as they try a new skill or push themself to a new level, SheJumps’ bravery and courage develop because of our community.

We are stoked to take this next jump together.
