The 6th Annual (S)heJumps into the Canyon will take place over 4 Saturdays in March at Alta Ski area! This is THE youth outreach event of the year. The dates are March 8, 15, 22, and 29 and we are expecting around 30 teens from Boys and Girls Clubs around the valley. The camp is designed for local teens to explore and adventure in the Wasatch mountains with positive and empowering role models. All kids tickets are generously donated by Alta and rentals are sponsored by the Alta Ski Shop and the Deep Powder House. We are looking for motivated, responsible, and fun-loving individuals who would like to coach for this inspiring event. You must be an advanced skier with a pass to Alta (some upgrades from Snowbird are available) and willing to be a steward of the mountains and life for these participants!
The volunteer shift is from 9am until 3:30pm (possibly earlier) and includes lunch for the day. Volunteers are required to watch a short video about teaching “never-ever” skiers prior to the event and an orientation will also start each day for coaches.
If you are unable to volunteer on those dates/times, there are other ways to become involved in the program, including:
*Dryland training for the teens at the Boys & Girls Clubs
*Gear/Outerwear distribution
*Post-party planning
*Media/Publicity in the local Salt Lake Area
