Back by popular demand is our women’s only beacon clinic, brought to you by SheJumps, the Utah Avalanche Center and Alta Community Enrichment. This clinic is designed for all ability levels to get out on the snow and gain experience using your beacon, probe and shovel in mini scenarios. Whether you spend every day in the backcountry or are just starting out and learning how to use your beacon, it is an incredibly important skill to practice so you’re ready for anything.
This is a 2.5 hour session starting with a brief talk inside and then moves onto snow, so dress accordingly. We suggest you bring your pack with your own beacon, probe and shovel, but if you do not have all the gear, some will be provided by the UAC. Ski/snowboard/snowshoe equipment is not necessarily as most groups are on foot. But if you wish to practice the transition, you are welcome to bring your gear along.
The course is led by Evelyn Lees, a long-term U.S. Forest Service Utah Avalanche Center Forecaster and mountain guide. Evelyn will be supported by a team of women, all avalanche professionals and experienced backcountry users, leading smaller field groups.
