Women’s-Only Avy Ed Coming to the Tetons

Invest in your backcountry education this season with SheJumps and Jackson Hole Outdoor Leadership Institute!!

We will once again be partnering with Jackson Hole Outdoor Leadership Institute, our primary supporter for ladies avalanche education in the Tetons, to bring you the following women’s-only courses in the Jackson area:

  1. AIARE Avalanche Level 1 (December 10 – 13, 2015): $375 Participants will obtain their AIARE Level 1 certification through this course, garnering an understanding of basic snow science, how to prepare for and carry out a backcountry trip, execute decision making while in the field and learn rescue techniques.   2. Women’s Avalanche Awareness & Backcountry Freedom Clinic (December 21 – 23, 2015): $299 A great Level 1 precursor or reinforcer, this course is meant to help you get comfortable traveling in and making decisions in the backcountry. It will cover the basics of backcountry equipment, travel skills, evaluation of terrain and group management, among other topics.   3. AIARE Avalanche Level 2 (February 18 – 21, 2016): $475 Participants will obtain their AIARE Level 2 certification through this course, which builds upon the introductory avalanche hazard management model introduced Level 1 and adds to it the evaluation of factors critical to stability evaluation. Course Registration for all three courses be handled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Payment is due at the time of registration. To register, please email carisa@shejumps.org. If the course you wish to register for is full, you will be placed on the wait list.
