What are you guys planning to do this winter for activities? This was the first question a group of 8 women was asked by Eastern Mountain Sports employees. The answered ranged from snowshoeing to hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and learning how to layer. All of these women had different back grounds. Some had been in the Outdoor leadership program, a bunch came from a local outdoor adventure company and one had never set foot in a Eastern Mountain Sports store before!
Eastern Mountain sports split the night into three sections, the first was how to layer and soft goods. The second was hard goods and the last was what to have in your pack/ navigation. Splitting it in to three different clinics made it easy to see all the gear they offered with out being overwhelmed. First was the how to layer and soft good clinic. This stressed the importance of investing in good gear and gave many options with price points in mind so that every one can afford to get outside and stay warm this winter!
The hard goods clinic went over different types of snowshoes, nordic skis and crampons and which ones are best depending on what your looking to do. This was awesome to see all the options and get women prepared for some of our xc ski and snowshoe events coming up!
The last clinic showed us what to have in our packs from safety gear to food options. We went over briefly some navigation and how to plan an extended trip. This got everyone really excited about orienteering and Eastern Mountain Sports and SheJumps will be having an orienteering clinic this spring!
Thank you all for coming! A huge Thank You to our partners Eastern Mountain Sports, Ecolips, Vermont Peanut Butter, Little Red Wagon Coffee and Big Agnes.
