A Very Successful Event for International Women’s Day

Updated: May 11, 2021

Our community knows how to have fun! We didn’t know what to expect this year when we announced our first-ever virtual Get the Girls Out! Event. Our goal was simple: encourage women and girls to celebrate International Women’s Day by completing missions outside. We were overjoyed with the participation and also introduced many new people to the SheJumps mission in communities across Canada and the United States.

To our participants: THANK YOU! You all went above and beyond. We had 3,000+ registered for the event with nearly 30,000 missions completed over the weekend of March 5-7!

10 Years of Get the Girls Out!

It has been 10 years since we hosted our first-ever Get the Girls Out event and this was an incredible and unforgettable way to celebrate this milestone for our organization. Thank you to our community! Your energy and creativity exemplified the vision of SheJumps to remember that we go to nature for many reasons, but the most important of which is to become who we are meant to be.

Below are literally just a few of the 30,000 submissions we received from the event.

We had a small number of ‘special’ missions that were judged individually. Re Wikstrom helped dream up a few different missions, such as “Follow your Shadow” with a photo challenge to use the sun and shadows, or “Make us Laugh” which, as you can imagine, did in fact make us chuckle! Re is one of the original SheJumps’ supporters. In addition to being the Senior Photographer at Backcountry.com, Re Wikstrom spends her spare time taking pictures of only women in action sports. A true champion for our mission, we asked Re what it was like to review the submissions from our community members.

“Reviewing the submissions had me smiling, and often laughing out loud, which was the overarching intent for most of the missions we set up. Cheers to everyone who entered. I can’t wait to see what we can dream up and laugh about next year!” – Re Wikstrom

Backcountry.com was a huge support for this event. They sold a limited edition ‘Goat’ sticker and Girafficorn sticker for SheJumps, and published this blog post celebrating the event.
